marched through the town of Chemnitz in Saxony. Many of those masked,
prepared for violence, chanting “National Socialism now!”, “Free, social
and national!”, “Germany for Germans – foreigners out!”.It was the second evening Nazis gathered following a brawl at the local
town festival, leaving one person dead after a knife attack and two
others severely injured.Still it is not clear what the reasons for the confrontation were,
surely the dead person was NO nazi after all we know.
Nazis are claiming that this was an act of foreigner’s criminality – as
they put it – and are ‘commemorating’ the dead. This night many thousand antifascists and democratic people stood
against the nazis. For sure, everybody who is a potential victim of
Nazis is in real danger in Chemnitz in these hours and the upcoming days.
they even want. Journalist have been threatened with murder, Hitler
salutes had been shown and people were masked what is all forbidden
under German law.Right now, 21:45 German time, the Nazi march has ended and the situation
is becoming even more tense because small groups of Nazis are patrolling
the streets.I appeal to all you as media people and Antifascists to take notice of
what is going on in Chemnitz and to report on it. There are a lot of
decent activists and media people in Saxony. Get into contact with them
and ask them about their situation.Every report from abroad is helpful. Antifascist struggle in Saxony
needs your intervention right now.
Ask questions to the Police of Saxony, ask the government of Saxony what
they will do about the racist outrage and how they will stop the danger
for foreigners and refugees in their country.
German politics is very aware of the damage that international media
coverage can do and tries to turn their voices down. Dont let them
silence international solidarity.
Thanks for listening.
